How many sessions will my baby or child need?

During the initial evaluation, Dr. Anna will create a customized home program and provide supportive treatment strategies and exercises to help you get started immediately. In some cases, this is sufficient to resolve symptoms or concerns, and no further treatment is needed. For others, follow up therapy appointments may be recommended. Dr. Anna offers flexible scheduling without requiring a weekly therapy commitment. Appointments are booked on an as needed basis to fit your child’s and family’s progress and needs.

Can you tell me if my baby or child has a lip or tongue tie?

As a speech-language pathologist, Dr. Anna cannot diagnose oral ties, as it falls outside her scope of practice. However, during her comprehensive evaluation of your baby or child's feeding skills, she will assess their oral structures, including screening for potential oral restrictions such as lip or tongue ties.

Dr. Anna will share her observations and, if necessary, provide referrals to trusted providers for further evaluation and treatment if warranted.

I already work with a lactation consultant, how is this different?

I am deeply grateful for my IBCLC colleagues and refer to them often for their extensive knowledge of lactation physiology, milk production, pumping and expression, maternal breast health, and support for both breast and bottle feeding across a wide range of feeding journeys.

As a speech-language pathologist, my clinical training focuses on the mechanics of infant feeding, specifically how babies use their oral structures and muscles to suck, swallow, and coordinate breathing during feeds. I apply evidence-based approaches such as neuromuscular re-education and oral sensory motor therapy to support more efficient, coordinated feeding when underlying motor or sensory patterns are contributing to difficulty.

During my evaluation, I assess both symptoms and function to help identify the underlying contributors to your baby’s feeding challenges. This includes a structural oral exam, functional feeding assessment, oral reflex examination, and non nutritive oral motor assessment. I also screen for additional physical, sensory, or regulatory factors that may impact feeding and collaborate with or refer to other providers when appropriate.

When needed, I work closely with IBCLCs and other pediatric specialists to ensure families receive comprehensive, well coordinated feeding support.
